On 15 January 2026, Ms. Parinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. M.I. Derry Aman, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN, to introduce herself following the assumption of her duties. The meeting took place at the Country Room of Indonesia at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.

On this occasion, Ambassador Prinat reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to work closely with Indonesia within the ASEAN framework, which constitutes a key pillar of the bilateral relationship as Strategic Partners. The elevation of relations was announced during President Prabowo Subianto's official visit to Thailand in 2025.

Both sides exchanged views on ways to uphold ASEAN’s centrality, unity, and resilience amid current geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges. Discussions also covered ways to enhance the role of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) in implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and its related Strategic Plans, with a view to delivering tangible outcomes that bring concrete benefits to the peoples of ASEAN.

In addition, the two Ambassadors exchanged insights, experiences, and best practices related to the CPR's work, particularly drawing on Ambassador Aman’s experience as Chair of the CPR during Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023.

The two sides also discussed approaches to strengthening ASEAN’s cooperation with its Dialogue Partners and external partners, particularly regional organisations, as well as continued support for the role and work of the ASEAN Secretariat. Both sides underscored the importance of upholding ASEAN’s long-standing principles, norms, and consultative processes.
