On 27 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended a welcome lunch hosted by H.E. Ms. Ambra Dickie, Ambassador of Canada to ASEAN.

Both sides exchanged views on ways to advance ASEAN-Canada cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including efforts to combat transnational crime, particularly trafficking in persons and online scams, trade and investment, and the promotion of interaction between the ASEAN and Canadian business sectors. They also exchanged views on the opportunities and challenges arising from the evolving geopolitical landscape and the importance of strengthening multilateralism. In this regard, Ambassador Dickie reaffirmed Canada’s readiness to support ASEAN through the ASEAN-Canada Plan of Action Trust Fund.

The ASEAN-Canada dialogue relationship was established in 1977 and was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2023.
