On 20 June 2025, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the informal meeting between the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and P. Kumaran, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs and SOM Leader of India, at the ASEAN Secretariat.
The Meeting exchanged views on the advancement of the ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations as both sides will adopt the new Plan of Action (2026-2030) this year.
Ambassador Phantipha encouraged India to continue to play a constructive role in the region through its support for ASEAN centrality and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific. She also suggested that ASEAN and India look into further reinforcing the strength of relations particularly in the areas such as trade and connectivity, while further expanding cooperation into new and emerging areas such as digitalisation, clean energy, blue economy, and smart and sustainable.
After the meeting, Ambassador Phantipha attended the reception hosted by the Indian Mission to ASEAN to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of its office in Jakarta.
ASEAN-India ties began in 1992. Later in 2022, the 19th ASEAN-India Summit agreed to establish a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) between ASEAN and India to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-India Relations.
