On 29 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 3rd ASEAN-Peru Development Partnership Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta.
Ambassador Prinat proposed ways to advance ASEAN-Peru relations in the areas of digital economy, connectivity—including infrastructure, people-to-people, business, and supply chains for food, energy, and critical minerals—as well as sustainable development. In this connection, she highlighted Thailand’s role as ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation, as well as its role as host of the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD).
Peru reaffirmed its commitment to expanding cooperation with ASEAN in the areas of trade, digitalisation, energy security, agriculture, fisheries and forestry, smart mobility, disaster management, and education, while underscoring the importance of multilateralism and regional cooperation in addressing current global challenges.
Peru was conferred the status of ASEAN Development Partner in 2024. Both sides continue to advance their cooperation under the Practical Cooperation Areas (PCA) (2025-2029).
