On 26 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended a welcome lunch hosted by Mr. Hahm Jeonghan, Charge d’Affaires of the Mission of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to ASEAN, in Jakarta.

Under Thailand’s capacity as Country Coordinator for ASEAN–ROK dialogue relations, Ambassador Prinat reaffirmed Thailand’s strong commitment to further strengthening ASEAN–ROK relations and welcomed the ROK’s continued engagement with ASEAN as a Comprehensive Strategic Partner.  

The discussion covered key regional and cooperation issues, including the CSP vision announced by President Lee Jae-myung, project proposals under ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund, preparations for upcoming ASEAN–ROK meetings, and ways to enhance cooperation in support of peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.

ASEAN and the Republic of Korea initiated sectoral dialogue relations in November 1989. The two sides established the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Partnership in 2024, in conjunction with the 35th Anniversary of the ASEAN-ROK relations. Thailand is the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations from 2024 - 2027.
