On 30 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, hosted a welcoming lunch at her residence in Jakarta for H.E. Mr. Lee Chul, who has officially assumed his capacity as Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN.

Ambassador Prinat congratulated Ambassador Lee on the presentation of his Letter of Credence to the Secretary General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, earlier that day. Both sides exchanged views on advancing ASEAN–ROK relations, particularly through the Jakarta-based ASEAN mechanisms, including by increasing the utility of the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund in priority areas such as countering online scams, maritime security, digitalisation, energy security, and ageing society.

Thailand reaffirmed its readiness, as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations, to work closely with the Republic of Korea to further strengthen the ASEAN–Republic of Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a practical and forward-looking manner.

H.E. Mr. Lee Chul is the seventh Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN since the Republic of Korea established its Mission to ASEAN in 2012, reflecting deep and continued cooperation between ASEAN and the ROK.
