On 24 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 14th ASEAN-New Zealand Joint Cooperation Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta.
Ambassador Prinat briefed the Meeting on Thailand’s efforts to advance sustainable development in the region in its capacity as the ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation. She also shared perspectives on ways to further strengthen ASEAN-New Zealand cooperation, particularly in combating transnational crime, energy security, food security, utilisation of existing free trade agreements, and people-to-people connectivity.
New Zealand reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening cooperation with ASEAN, particularly in climate mitigation, capacity-building for ASEAN personnel, and disaster management. To support ASEAN-New Zealand cooperation for the period 2026–2030, New Zealand has established the ASEAN-New Zealand Vision Fund, with a total value of NZD 25 million. New Zealand elevated its relations with ASEAN to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-New Zealand relations in 2025.
