On 31 March 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 7th ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta.
Ambassador Prinat proposed ways to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and Chile, particularly in trade and investment, strengthening supply chain connectivity in food, energy, and critical minerals, the digital economy, and sustainable development. In this connection, she highlighted Thailand’s role as ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation, as well as the host of the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD).
Chile reaffirmed its commitment to expanding cooperation with ASEAN, particularly in the areas of trade, energy transition, food security, disaster management, and people-to-people relations, while underscoring the importance of multilateralism and international cooperation in addressing current global challenges.
Chile was conferred the status of ASEAN Development Partner in 2019. Both sides continue to advance their cooperation under the Practical Cooperation Areas (PCA) (2021–2026).
