On 5 November 2024, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra at the Royal Thai Government House to discuss collaborative efforts in combating transnational crime, enhancing cybersecurity, and supporting prisoner rehabilitation.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn emphasized Thailand's commitment on tackling cybercrime and online fraud, highlighting the importance of unified actions to confront these increasing challenges. In response, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn praised Thailand's contributions to ASEAN's public health objectives, particularly the establishment of the ASEAN Center for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED), which plays a key role in boosting the region's pandemic response capabilities.

The discussion also covered Thailand’s correctional reforms, which offer educational and vocational programs for inmates to support their reintegration and promote social stability. The ASEAN Secretary-General acknowledged these initiatives as supporting ASEAN’s goals for a secure, inclusive society.
