On 20 November 2024, Mr. Piyapong Nuntana, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the first Meeting between the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ambassadors’ Council in Jakarta at the ASEAN Secretariat.

He highlighted the need to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and the GCC on trade and investment, green growth and sustainable development.

The ASEAN-GCC relations commenced in 1990. Both sides continue to work together to advance their cooperation through Leader-level and ministerial meetings as well as through the implementation of the ASEAN-GCC Framework of Cooperation. Next year, Leaders of ASEAN and the GCC will meet at the 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit in May in Malaysia, which will be the opportunity to further strengthen the ASEAN-GCC relations and push forward concrete collaboration between the two sides.
