Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN supported the ASEAN-Korea’s efforts in strengthening regional EV ecosystem

On 4 November 2024, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the roundtable discussion on ASEAN Electric Vehicles (EV) Ecosystem organised by the Mission of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia’s factory in Sukabumi, Indonesia. The roundtable discussion was also attended by H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Lee Jang-keun, Ambassador of ROK to ASEAN, Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, and a representative from Timor-Leste.

The participants also visited the Hyundai EV factory and witnessed the hand-over of five EV cars from the Republic of Korea to the ASEAN Secretariat. The cars would be the ASEAN Secretariat’s first EV fleet.

In Her Excellency’s remarks on behalf of ASEAN during Thailand’s Country Coordinatorship for ASEAN - Republic of Korea Dialogue Relations, Ambassador Ekarohit stressed the importance and opportunity of ASEAN and ROK’s cooperation to strengthen regional EV ecosystem, which will support the implementation of the ASEAN Plus Three Leaders’ Statement on Developing of Electric Vehicle Ecosystem adopted in 2023.
