On 30 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Wang Qing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on ASEAN–China relations, including commemorative activities for the 5th Anniversary of the ASEAN–China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and the importance of advancing the effective implementation of the ASEAN–China Plan of Action (POA) to deliver tangible benefits to the peoples of the region.

Ambassador Apirat reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to work closely with China in support of ASEAN centrality, unity, and the steady advancement of ASEAN–China cooperation through the Jakarta mechanism.

ASEAN–China relations began in 1991, when the Chinese Foreign Minister attended the Opening Ceremony of the 24th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. In 2021, ASEAN and China established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, in conjuncture with the 30th anniversary of ASEAN–China relations.
