On 16 March 2026, H.E. Dr. Talip Küçükcan, Ambassador of Türkiye to ASEAN, called on H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

Both sides exchanged views on ways to further enhance cooperation between ASEAN and Türkiye in areas of mutual interest, including sustainable development, energy security, disaster management, maritime cooperation, trade and investment, education, women and youth empowerment, and cultural exchanges. Last year, Türkiye supported Thailand, in its capacity as ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation, in organising the ASEAN Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Sustainability and the 2025 ASEAN Forum on SDGs with National Development Planning Agencies in Bangkok, with funding support from the ASEAN–Türkiye Fund.

Türkiye was conferred the status of ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner in 2017. The ASEAN–Türkiye Practical Areas of Cooperation (PCA) (2024–2028) serves as an important framework for advancing cooperation.
