On 28 January 2022, H.E. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 1/2022 Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) at the ASEAN Secretariat.  H.E. Yeap Samnang, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Cambodia to ASEAN, Chair of the CPR in 2022, and H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN, delivered their remarks at the opening of the meeting.

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Cambodia to ASEAN congratulated Brunei Darussalam for the successful ASEAN chairmanship in 2021. This year, under the theme “ASEAN A.C.T. – Addressing Challenges Together”, Cambodia will promote ASEAN’s strong sense of togetherness to achieve common goals.

The Secretary-General of ASEAN praised Cambodia’s chairmanship theme as timely and appropriate in the current context. He trusted that Cambodia will be able to steer ASEAN through its 55th year towards success, and also reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s readiness to support ASEAN Member States in their efforts on ASEAN community building and enhancing cooperation between ASEAN and external partners.

H.E. Urawadee Sriphiromya also joined other Permanent Representatives in congratulating Brunei Darussalam for shepherding ASEAN to achieve many deliverables last year, and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to working closely with Cambodia this year.
