Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN attended the 7th ASEAN-Norway Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee Meeting

On 11 May 2022, H.E. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 7th ASEAN-Norway Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariate. H.E. Henrik Thune, State Secretary for Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, led
the Norwegian delegation to the said Meeting.

Ambassador Sriphiromya expressed appreciation for Norway’s keen interest in collaborating with Thailand and the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue, particularly through Norway’s active participation in the High-Level Brainstorming Dialogues on Enhancing Complementarities between the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the ASEAN BCG Knowledge Sharing Series.

Ambassador Sriphiromya also proposed that ASEAN and Norway further deepen cooperation in the areas of each other’s expertise of mutual benefit, namely renewable energy, environmental protection and combatting marine debris and plastic debris.

In addition, both sides also discussed ASEAN-Norway cooperation in other spheres such as climate change mitigation, people-to-people connectivity, digital economy and ocean sustainability.
