On 21 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Natercia Coelho da Silva, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to ASEAN, to introduce herself following her assumption of duties, at the Permanent Mission of Timor-Leste to ASEAN in Jakarta.

Ambassador Natercia expressed appreciation for Thailand’s strong and continued support for Timor-Leste’s accession as a full member of ASEAN from the beginning, as well as for Thailand’s valuable advice and assistance through various capacity-building programmes, including at the bilateral level. In this regard, Ambassador Prinat reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to continue providing full support to Timor-Leste. Ambassador Natercia also reiterated the Government of Timor-Leste’s commitment to contributing to ASEAN Community-building and shared that the Government has already approved a dedicated national work plan on ASEAN.

In addition, the two Ambassadors exchanged views on issues of shared interest, including sustainable development, clean energy transition, connectivity, and human capital development, and agreed to work closely together to advance these priorities for the benefit of the peoples of the region.
