On 3 October 2024, H.E. Kate Rebholz, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the United States Mission to ASEAN, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance the dynamic of the ASEAN-U.S. relations, particularly through the areas of cooperation that will be highlighted during the 12^th ASEAN-U.S. Summit on 11 October 2024 in Vientiane, such as sustainable development, cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

ASEAN and the U.S. established dialogue relations in 1977, and elevated their partnership to a strategic level in 2015. Both sides established the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.
