On 5 June 2025, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, paid a joint courtesy call on H.E. Sugiono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, along with members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to ASEAN.

Ambassador Phantipha emphasised the significance of 2025, which marks the 75th anniversary of Thailand-Indonesia relations, and applauded the recent achievements, including the successful 10th Joint Commission Meeting in Bangkok (the first in seven years) and President Prabowo's historic visit to Thailand (the first in two decades). These milestones culminated in the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership, which set a clear direction for Thailand-Indonesia ASEAN cooperation.

Regarding ASEAN priorities, Ambassador Phantipha reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to working closely with Indonesia to enhance ASEAN unity and resilience. Key areas of cooperation include conclusion by year-end of the ASEAN Digital Framework Agreement (DEFA) which Thailand is the Chair of Negotiation Committee, finalisation of the Establishment Agreement of the ASEAN Center for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED) by the end of this year, and implementation of the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar, including supporting humanitarian assistance during recovery phase in the aftermath of earthquake in Myanmar.

"Thailand values Indonesia as a strategic partner in advancing our shared ASEAN agenda," stated Ambassador Phantipha during the productive discussions.
