On 19 May 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, participated in the Interface between the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and the United Nations (UN), at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. The Interface was co-chaired by H.E. Ms. Evangeline T. Ong Jimenez-Ducrocq, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, and H.E. Mr. Khaled Khiari, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific.

Both sides exchanged views on enhancing ASEAN-UN cooperation, especially on strengthening multilateralism and upholding international law. During the discussion, Thailand underscored the importance of cooperation on sustainable development, human security, including tackling online scams, an ageing society, disaster management, and climate change.

ASEAN and the United Nations share a Comprehensive Partnership and maintain close secretariat-to-secretariat cooperation under the ASEAN-UN Plan of Action to advance peace, security, and sustainable development at both the regional and global levels.
