On 22 August 2025, Ms. Pressia Arifin Cabo, Principal Liaison for ASEAN, UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Regional Office, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Suwit Mangkhala, Deputy Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

Both sides agreed on the need for ASEAN and UNFPA to work together to reduce maternity mortality, promote sexual and reproductive health and rights, address the issue of an ageing society, as well as prevent gender-based violence, which are issues of common concern of most ASEAN Member States.

Note: UNFPA is currently developing a joint work programme with the ASEAN Secretariat as a basis for concrete collaboration in the aforementioned areas in the future.
