On 9 January 2023, H.E. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the Ceremony for the Transfer of Office of the Secretary-General of ASEAN. The ceremony held at the ASEAN Secretariat was presided over by H.E. Mrs. Retno Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and attended by H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, the outgoing Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, the incoming Secretary-General of ASEAN, the Deputy Secretaries-General of ASEAN, the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and the diplomatic corps in Jakarta.

The Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN extends heartfelt congratulations to H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on his assumption of office, and pledges its full support to the work of the Secretary-General in advancing ASEAN Community building towards a more resilient and sustainable future.

The Permanent Mission of Thailand also wishes to express its great appreciation to H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi for his contributions to enhancing regional cooperation and deepening regional integration, and for his active role in strengthening the COVID-19 response and recovery, which has been one of the great challenges faced by ASEAN during the past few years.
