On 11 January 2023, H.E. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, paid a courtesy on H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, at the ASEAN Secretariat.
Ambassador Sriphiromya extended her heartfelt congratulations to H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on his assumption of office, and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to and support for the work of the Secretary-General in enhancing ASEAN Community building. She also highlighted the areas of cooperation that Thailand and the ASEAN Secretariat could work together, including advancing economic recovery and resilient growth, strengthening health security, promoting narrowing the development gap, and reinforcing efforts to realise the SDGs, for which Thailand serves as the ASEAN Coordinator.
Both sides also exchanged views on ways to move forward commemorative activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN-Japan Dialogue Relations, as Thailand is the current Country Coordinator for the ASEAN-Japan Dialogue Relations. In this regard, the Secretary-General emphasised the need to further promote people-to-people ties, especially through education.
