On 25 May 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 20th Meeting of the ASEAN-Japan Joint Cooperation Committee (AJJCC) at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. The Meeting was co-chaired by the Permanent Representative of Singapore to ASEAN and the Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN.

The Meeting reviewed progress in implementing the Implementation Plan of the Joint Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation: Trusted Partners and exchanged views on priority areas for future cooperation. Thailand welcomed Japan’s steady support for the ASEAN’s Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP), and underscored the importance of advancing ASEAN’s sustainability agenda in its capacity as ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation, as well as cooperation on digital transformation, energy transition, food security, ageing society, and public health, particularly the establishment of the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED).

At the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation in 2023, ASEAN and Japan established the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and adopted the Joint Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation: Trusted Partners, along with its Implementation Plan.
