On 28 August 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 41st Meeting of the Governing Council of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) and the 12th Interface between the Governing Council and the Advisory Board at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila. Ambassador Prinat underscored the importance of ensuring that ASEAN-IPR’s work covers a diverse and balanced range of issues, including emerging challenges such as combating online scams and water management, in order to enhance the Institute’s relevance and visibility.
In addition, on 27 August 2029, Ambassador Prinat participated in the ASEAN-IPR University Tour at Ateneo de Manila University, which aimed to raise awareness among young people about the role of ASEAN-IPR and promote a better understanding of ASEAN cooperation on peace and reconciliation. Dr. Darmp also participated as a speaker at the event.
ASEAN-IPR was established with the endorsement of the 11th ASEAN Summit on 8 May 2011, with a core mandate to undertake research on peace and conflict management. The Governing Council serves as the Institute’s governing body, while the Advisory Board comprises experts who provide advice, particularly on ASEAN-IPR’s priority areas.
