On 29 June 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 9th ASEAN-Pakistan Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.
Ambassador Prinat underscored the importance of advancing ASEAN-Pakistan cooperation across all areas with greater tangible outcomes, particularly in fields of shared potential, including digital economy, cybersecurity, food security, energy security, circular economy, and public health. She emphasised that the success of the partnership should be measured not by the number of activities undertaken, but by the concrete results achieved and the tangible benefits delivered to the peoples of ASEAN and Pakistan.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening ASEAN-Pakistan cooperation, stating that it is currently developing and submitting project proposals in a number of priority areas, including peace and reconciliation, cybersecurity, food security, information and communications technology (ICT), poverty alleviation, and gender equality. Pakistan also expressed its readiness to promote knowledge exchange, capacity building, and joint activities with ASEAN Member States in areas of mutual interest.
Pakistan was granted the status of a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN on 23 July 1993.
