On 29 May 2024, H.E. Sarah Tiffin, UK Ambassador to ASEAN, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta. Both sides exchanged views on ways to further enhance ASEAN-UK cooperation, especially in the area of sustainable development, for which Thailand serves as the ASEAN Coordinator and host of the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD).

ASEAN and the UK established dialogue relations in 2021. Both sides have adopted the ASEAN-UK Plan of Action 2022-2026 to guide their concrete cooperation.
