Greetings and Sawasdee Kha,
It is my honor and privilege to be appointed as the Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN and to be part of the ASEAN family here in Jakarta. I officially assumed my role as the Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN on 31 May 2017, which was during the year ASEAN celebrated its 50th Anniversary.
ASEAN has withstood various regional and global challenges and has taken initiatives, such as the establishment of ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) and the ASEAN Community, to better our peoples’ lives since its foundation in 1967. Thailand, as one of the five founding members, is proud of ASEAN’s past achievements and looks ahead to the future to make ASEAN a truly people-centred and people-oriented Community where no one is left behind.
As a member of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR), I work closely with other Permanent Representatives from ASEAN Member States as well as the Ambassadors of Dialogue Partners and External Parties, including those accredited to ASEAN and present in Jakarta, to further ASEAN’s and Thailand’s interests.
Thailand will take on the role of ASEAN’s Country Coordinator for ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations from August 2018 until 2021. We will work with India, together with other ASEAN Member States, to enhance and strengthen our cooperation and partnership.
Next year Thailand will be the Chair of ASEAN. So, we have an important task in working with ASEAN Member States as well as other partners, and will play an important role to ensure that the ASEAN Community moves forward positively and that our region is peaceful, stable and prosperous. To this end, the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN promises to do our best to contribute to these goals and bring about benefits of our regional integration to the lives of our peoples.
Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to invite all Thai citizens who live in Indonesia to work with our Permanent Mission. I would be happy to listen to any ideas or suggestions that fall within the ASEAN domain.
Thank you. Khob khun kha.
       With best wishes,
