On 24 February 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, participated in the Informal Gathering between the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) at The Tribrata Darmawangsa, Jakarta.
The dialogue was held during the visit of Dr. Aleksandar Sasha Bodiroza, UNFPA Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific. UNFPA briefed the CPR on key demographic trends in Southeast Asia, highlighting the rapid pace of population ageing, its social and economic implications, and opportunities arising from the silver economy.
Ambassador Apirat noted the importance of regional cooperation in addressing demographic change and reaffirmed Thailand’s support for continued ASEAN–UNFPA collaboration, including through the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI) in Bangkok.
