On 26 February 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, met with Ms. Joy M. Sakurai, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of  the U.S. Mission to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

Both sides exchanged views on ways to advance ASEAN-U.S. partnership in areas of mutual interest, including artificial intelligence, disaster management, countering online scams and public health. They also underscored the importance of further enhancing public awareness of the benefits of ASEAN-U.S. cooperation for the peoples of ASEAN and the U.S.

ASEAN and the U.S. established dialogue relations in 1977, elevated their partnership to a Strategic Partnership in 2015 and to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in 2022.
