On 24 February 2026, Mr. Suwit Mangkhla, Minister, Deputy Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, represented Thailand in witnessing the MoU signing between the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) at The Tribrata Hotel, Jakarta, which aims to strengthen cooperation in promoting active ageing and advancing the silver economy in the region.

The event was followed by a High-Level Roundtable Discussion hosted by UNFPA, with participants from ASEAN Plus Three countries, the ASEAN Secretariat, ACAI, and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).

During the discussion, Mr. Suwit highlighted the importance of ASEAN–UNFPA partnership in addressing demographic change. He noted the timeliness of this year, marking the 10^th anniversary of the ASEAN Plus Three Statement on Active Ageing, and underscored the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship priority on advancing the silver economy.
