On 27 February 2026, H.E. Dr. Yassir Mohamed Ali, Ambassador of Sudan to ASEAN called on H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

The two sides exchanged views on ASEAN–Sudan relations. The Sudanese side expressed its intention to accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and sought support from Thailand and ASEAN in efforts to address the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Thailand and Sudan established diplomatic relations on 15 June 1982. The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo is concurrently accredited to Sudan, while the Embassy of Sudan in Malaysia is concurrently accredited to Thailand.
