On 1 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 24th ASEAN-Russia Joint Cooperation Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta.

Ambassador Prinat briefed the Meeting on Thailand’s efforts to advance the implementation of the SDGs in the region, in its capacity as the ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation. She also suggested that ASEAN and Russia further enhance cooperation to promote regional security, economic integration, education, as well as youth empowerment.

Russia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with ASEAN and to concluding the negotiations of a new ASEAN-Russia Plan of Action (2026-2030).

The Meeting also welcomed the 35th anniversary of the ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership and Russia’s proposal to host the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan later this year.
