On 7 August 2024 H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, witnessed the handover of a street-art painting by Mr. Taweesak Srithongdee (Lolay), a Thai contemporary artist, to the ASEAN Secretariat in celebration of ASEAN Day 2024. The painting was handed over by Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Direcetor-General of the Department of Information and and Spokesperson of
the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, to H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, the Secretary-General of  ASEAN.  Also in attendance were H.E. Nararya Soeprapto, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States, Ambassadors of ASEAN external partners, local artists and the media community.

The painting by Mr. Srithongdee and his family titled “Mitr” or “Friend” portrays the important goals of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045: Resilient, Dynamic, Innovative, and People-Centred ASEAN. It is the 138th piece of artwork given to the ASEAN Secretariat for public display at the ASEAN Gallery.
