On 14 February 2022, the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (ASEAN COSTI), together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, hosted the opening ceremony of the ASEAN-Russia Year of Scientific and Technical Cooperation (ARYSTC) 2022 via videoconferencing, in which H.E. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN was also in attendance.

ASEAN and Russia designated 2022 as the ARYSTC in accordance with the outcome of the 4^th ASEAN-Russia Summit to Commemorate the 30^th Anniversary of Dialogue Relations held in 2021 and agreed to develop a concrete action plan to guide future cooperation in the areas that will benefit ASEAN, such as economy, science, mathematics, medicine, industry, business, as well as food security and technology.

The Chairman of the ASEAN-Russia Business Council also attended the Ceremony where he reiterated support for the utilization of science and technology as a solution for environmental protection and digital transformation.
