On 13 June 2022, H.E. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 4^th ASEAN- Türkiye Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat.

As Thailand is the ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation, Ambassador Sriphiromya commended Türkiye for incorporating SDGs into its national development plans and proposed that Türkiye explore possible cooperation with the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue in Thailand, especially in areas which Türkiye attaches importance to and have expertise in, such as public health, clean energy, and sustainable infrastructure.

In addition, both sides discussed ASEAN-Türkiye cooperation in other spheres, including trade and investment, post-COVID-19 recovery, and people-to-people connectivity. Türkiye also announced
the “Türkiye-ASEAN Joint Scholarship Programme” which will provide 110 scholarships for interested ASEAN Member States for the period of 3 years, starting from 2023.
