Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the U.S. Mission to ASEAN called on Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN

On 14 January 2025, Ms. Kate Rebholz, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the U.S. Mission to ASEAN, called on H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

Both sides discussed the future of the ASEAN-U.S. relations and exchanged views on the direction of the U.S. foreign policy under the new administration, especially towards ASEAN. Ambassador Phantipha also highlighted the areas of cooperation that could be beneficial for both ASEAN and the U.S., namely supply chain connectivity, digitalisation, combatting online scams,  Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductor, energy transition and health.

ASEAN and the U.S. established dialogue relations in 1977, and elevated their partnership to a strategic level in 2015. Both sides agreed to establish the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.
