On 10 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Luis Tsuboyama, Ambassador of Peru to ASEAN, called on H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

Both sides exchanged views on ways to further enhance ASEAN-Peru cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including sustainable development, energy transition, environment, digital economy, women’s empowerment, and the promotion of people-to-people ties. Ambassador Tsuboyama reiterated Peru’s commitment to further strengthening relations with ASEAN, as reflected in the President of Peru's visit to the ASEAN Secretariat last year.

Peru became ASEAN’s Development Partner in 2024, with the ASEAN–Peru Practical Areas of Cooperation (PCA) serving as a framework to advance cooperation between the two sides.
