On 6 March 2026, H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, attended the 14th ASEAN-Canada Joint Cooperation Committee Meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta.
Ambassador Prinat briefed the Meeting on Thailand’s efforts to advance the achievement of the SDGs in the region, in Thailand’s capacity as the ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation. She also shared perspectives on ways to further strengthen ASEAN-Canada cooperation, particularly in the areas of combating transnational crime, promoting trade and investment, and advancing people-centred cooperation.
Canada reaffirmed its commitment to further enhancing cooperation with ASEAN, guided by three key policy objectives, namely: building a strong and resilient domestic economy; safeguarding national sovereignty and security; and upholding the principles of international law.
ASEAN and Canada are currently developing a new Plan of Action for 2026-2030, and will commemorate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Canada Dialogue Partnership in 2027.
