On 3 March 2026, Mr. Tetsuya Watanabe, President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, at the Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta.

The two sides exchanged views on ways to further deepen ERIA’s cooperation with ASEAN and to explore areas of collaboration with Thailand within the ASEAN framework, including on the active ageing agenda. Mr. Watanabe briefed the Thai side on ERIA’s priorities and its flagship initiative for 2026, aimed at strengthening ASEAN’s economic resilience.

Ambassador Prinat expressed appreciation for ERIA’s continued policy support for ASEAN and underscored the importance of practical and inclusive regional cooperation.

ERIA is an international organisation established in 2008 by the Leaders of 16 countries — the 10 ASEAN Member States, Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand — to support regional economic integration through policy research and recommendations.
